SUPPLY CHAIN INTEGRITY

Ekofood made %70 of fresh tomato sourcing in 2014 from his contracted farms in Aegean Region. None from abroad. In 2015, this ratio is planned to reach %85. 950 ton fresh tomatoes have been collected from 12 farms, average area of 1 farm is around 10 000m2.In 2015, fresh tomato sourcing will increase 2500 ton excluding fresh tomato used for sun dried tomato which is around 7500 ton, allows to proceed 10 000 tomatoes in a fiscal year.

SEED TYPE CONTROL

All EkoFood products are non GMO. The reason is that for the sourcing, EkoFood agricultural engineers with twenty five year experience, choose and source selected seed types. Seedings have been given to farmers by us. Seedings have been grown in contracted seeding greenhouses with pesticide control. EkoFood oven semi dried and sun dried tomato seeds are result of highest research and development globally for better end user performance for color,taste and texture. Agricultural innovation is our key in success, every year more than ten seed types have been tested and tried on field. We select the seed supplier company who can provide a NONGMO certificate and certificates from the Agricultural Authority of Manisa which proves that the seeds are healthy and suitable for cultivation.

SUPPLY LOCATIONS

To enlarge the tomato season Ekofood is collecting Tomatoes starting from Antalya region in May till Canakkale region harvest, which come on October. It distributes the risk during season.

GOOD AGRICULTURAL PRACTICE SHARING

EkoFood Agricultural Engineer is visiting each farm once a week and check quality of farming.Reminding farmers to use proper fertilizers and correct techniques. In some farms per 1000m2 efficiency increased up to 10-11 ton tomatoes where Turkey’s overall average is 5 ton/1000m2.

SUSTAINABILITY

All Ekofood contracted farms are adviced to use water with maximum efficiency.

QUALITY CONTROL OF FRESH PRODUCTS

Water used for farming is being tested and sent to laboratory before the season.

If risk foreseen from Agricultural Engineer, pesticide test is being performed from related farm.

FRESH PRODUCT ACCEPTANCE

Daily Audit done by Ekofood Q/A team during fresh product acceptance to factory.

Rejected products are not used for semi dried tomato production.

PILOT PROJECT – EBRD VCF

EkoFood launched Agricultural Value Chain Financing with global & local partners in Dec11 with leadership of Frankfurt School of Finance and Management. By the help of this project farmers can take loan from Bank by showing EkoFood Purchase Contract. Bank does not require any additional Guarantee from farmer instead of this. Bank process the documentation quickly for the benefit of farmers. It increases farmers’ loyalty to EkoFood.
